Hey, I’m John.

For the last 10 years I’ve worked in the oilfield, flying up to camp for two weeks at a time, over and over again.

It pays the bills. But that was never really the goal…

My goal was to be home with my family.

To watch my daughter grow up instead of catching it through a phone screen. To be there for the small stuff and the big stuff. To have the freedom to make my own decisions without a rotation schedule or another man telling me when I could and couldn’t see the people I love. 💯

For a long time I just chased the same dream everyone around me was chasing…

Buy the house, take one trip a year, save up and hope I’d get to relax and enjoy life at 60.

Then one day I looked around at the guys who’d been doing this for 25, 30 years. I watched how they talked about their lives, their bodies, the time they’d missed.

Honestly? None of them were happy enough to convince me to stay. 🙌

So I started building something on the side. A way out. A path nobody in my family had ever taken.

Plenty of people had opinions. “You’ve got a good job, just stick with it.” “Why risk it?” The kind of advice that sounds safe but keeps you stuck.

I heard them. And I kept going anyway. 😅✌️

I’m not going to stand here and promise you a beach in Mexico. What I’ll tell you is the truth: I’m building a way to come home for good, to be present for my wife and my little girl, and to own my time instead of selling it two weeks at a stretch.

Moral of the story: Take direction from people actually walking the path, not from people guessing at it from the sidelines.

Nobody ever made the pros critiquing the game from the couch. 🤷‍♂️
